Teen Fitness

Registration Information:
Now until full, limit of six, over six needs to be approved by Katie Wright.

Age Group:
11-14 years old

Specific Information:
Teens will learn to use the cardiovascular equipment, free weights, and Cybex weight machines. Nutrition, food servings, and body image are also discussed. Successful completion of the class includes a written test on the basic muscle groups and successful usage of machines. This program is required for teens before they can use any of the equipment in the Fitness Center and Cardio Room.

Personal Training

Personal Training
The average American puts on 2-10 lbs from Halloween to New Years. You don’t have to be average! You can have a private coach to help you avoid those extra holiday pounds. Personal Training is available at a low, low cost. Leave your name and number at the Front Desk and one of our Personal Training Professionals will contact you.

We have certified personal trainers that can assist you with your fitness needs.
$20 member/1 per hour
$30 nonmember/1 per hour

Judo
Spectacular throwing, grappling, pins, & joint locks are all part of the safe fun. Gregg Trude is a second degree black belt & has completed in international & national tournaments.

8 week sessions beginning January 8, March 12 and May 7, 2007

Advanced registration is required.

Group FITNESS Descriptions

Fit-n-Tone- Simply put, this class is all about muscle.  This class will have you “fit-n-tone” in no time!

Fitness Mix- This class has it all by combining cardio, strength training, yoga, and Pilates for a full body workout!  You will be fit, strong, and relaxed.
 
Get Vertical- Our extension class taught at the Main Street School in East Helena.  Get Vertical offers cardio floor work, sports conditioning, core strength, and yoga. There is a monthly $5 building fee.  Get fit and have fun! 

Yoga- Breathe, stretch, and be strong.  Bring your own mat if you have one and be ready to relax.

Yoga Kids- Children K-5th grade are welcome to join this fun yoga class that incorporates traditional games like “Duck, Duck, Goose” to “Yoga, Yoga, Pose.”  *A parent must attend class with children younger than 5 years.

CardioStrength Conditioning- This class has it all! A great blend of strength training without losing that cardio push.

PiYo- Pilates and Yoga combined for a strengthening and stretching mind-body experience.

Aquaerobics- Taught by a variety of instructors.  Wet and wild for those who want to get wet and wild.  A little more sedate for those who want to keep their hair dry.

Simply Step- What can we say?  It’s simply a great cardio workout with a little brain work.

KickBoxing- Get ready for some fun with this high intensity class. This class has great moves and great music. Come prepared to sweat a lot!

Latin Cardio- Join the workout with passion, finesse, beauty, and grace.  You will feel the intensity of a Latin beat with a true master.

Pilates I- This class will teach beginners the basics of Pilates, the ultimate core body workout.

Pilates II- Core body work for those with several weeks of Pilates experience.

Belly Dancing-  Arwen is wonderful to watch and even more fun to copy.  She’ll show you basic dances, moves, and even a shimmy or two!

SilverSneakers YogaStretch- This class will move your body through a complete series of seated and standing poses.  Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance, and range of movement.  Get fit, have fun, and make friends!  This class is specially designed for Medicare eligible participants.

SilverSneakers Strength & Range of Motion- This class, specially designed for Medicare eligible participants, focuses on muscular strength and range of motion.  Get fit, have fun, and make friends!

SilverSneakers Cardio Circuit- Again this class is specially designed for Medicare eligible participants. Upper body strength work is alternated with non-impact aerobic choreography.  A chair is offered for support, stretching, and relaxation exercises.  Get fit, have fun, and make friends!

SilverSplash-  Another great SilverSneakers Class!  SilverSplash uses kickboards to assist with low-impact Aquaerobics exercises.  Meet in the pool.  Get fit, have fun, and make friends! 

Mom & Me Swim – Little kids with their mom (OK dads are welcome). This tumbling and/or swim class includes games, activities, and play for you and your little one to enjoy. 

Interval- Start your day off right with this early morning cardio/strength class! You will get a full body workout and have fun at the same time.

Back & Abs- Tone your core muscles with this circuit style class. You will feel stronger and leaner in no time!

Prenatal/ Moms & Babies Yoga- Perfect for expecting moms or moms with babies less than 1year old.  Babies are welcome to join their moms in this relaxing class designed with new moms in mind.  Learn safe and effective yoga moves during and after pregnancy.  *Doctor consent is required. $Registration also required.

KidPlay- You and your little one will have a great time in this interactive class.  Help your child develop his or her motor skills with a balance beam, parachute, and stability ball, along with a variety of other “props”

Youths ages 11-14 may use the Fitness Center after successfully completing the Teen Fitness Class. Ages 11-14 must carry their Teen Fitness Card with them. Teens 15 and older may use the Fitness Center after completing a Fitness Center Orientation.

Get Real Weight Management

Learn to change old habits and eating to stay fit. "Get Real" Weight Management will help the participant to establish healthy eating habits (not dieting), more physical activity and positive attitudes towards food.  Contact the YMCA for more information and upcoming class dates.
