CAMP CHILD - BUILD LIFELONG MEMORIES!

Camp Child is located 23 miles west of Helena, nestled high in the scenic Rocky Mountains. The camp was donated to the Helena Family YMCA in 1939 by Harry S. Child and remains the only YMCA camp in Montana.

Camp Child offers an on-site lake for swimming, canoeing, and fishing. a complete Ropes Course, with 10 team building stations, an Archery Range, Sand Volleyball Court, and Arts & Crafts Lodge, a Basketball Court and Baseball Field are just some of the other activity areas that you will find at Camp Child.

Seven refurbished cabins (6 winterized!) can house over 80 campers/adults during a week-long session. Our historic lodge has been completely renovated and winterized, and is now complete with 3 bathrooms, 5 bedrooms (with 25 bed spaces), a new kitchen, and dining room.

Highly trained, motivated volunteers comprise the counseling team that will lead young campers through a week or weeks of lifetime inspiring fun. Meals are included in summer week sessions, as well as a camp t-shirt and photo.

Camp Child is reserved during the summer by youth groups, but is available for leasing during off summer weeks or weekends. For more information, please contact the Y.

CAMP LEADERSHIP

All YMCA counselors are volunteers and must by 15 years or older. All staff must attend a mandatory 2-day, 2-night training held at Camp Child in July to be eligible to work. Those that are interested must apply and be interviewed. An extensive background check will be performed on every applicant before hire.

Staff will be trained in elements of group dynamics, child behavior, basic first aid, and proper camp counseling techniques by YMCA professional staff. Staff will be evaluated at the end of the training and during their time as a counselor. The YMCA reserves the right to place counselors at camp, even after training.

If you are interested in working at Camp Child this summer, please contact the YMCA or pick-up and application from the YMCA's Membership Services Desk.
